In 2010, significant changes to the MARPOL resolution will affect shipping in the ECA (Emission Control Area) of the Baltic Sea and the North Sea.
As from 1 January, fuel oil used during port calls is allowed a
maximum sulphur content of 0.1% only. From this date, shipping
lines are charging a fee as compensation for this extra cost which
in turn results in the introduction of a MARPOL charge of 0.25% of
the total freight cost with a minimum of DKK5.00 per shipment as
from 1 February 2010.
As from 1 July 2010, the maximum suphur content of fuel oil used at sea will be reduced from1.5% to 1%. On the same date, shipping lines are increasing their MARPOL fee. As a result of this, Blue Water will be increasing the MARPOL charge from 0,25% to 0,55% from the 1. July.

Please note that considerable changes in our cost & price
structure will affect our fuel surcharge which will be adjusted
accordingly.
