New Export Formalities

Phase 2 of the Export Control System has been implemented by Danish Customs Authorities on 26 September 2009. This triggers a considerate tightening of control procedures for goods exported from an EU member state. Further to this, in future the export procedure is electronic.

Notification procedures

The exporter must advise on exit point of arrival. However, as the exporter in practice has no way of being present at the point of exit, freight forwarding /shipping agent will normally handle notification.

Why ESC

The purpose of the ESC is to increase the physical inspection of goods leaving the EU while ensuring that goods actually leave the EU duty trade zone. Furthermore, the ECS is intended to strengthen risk evaluation of export goods.

Increased Costs

The increased control measures may cause delays during transport, and extra expenses may incur due to the physical goods inspection.

Freight forwarding agent, shipping agent, shipping line, airline etc. will have extra costs because of these new procedures, which is why we regrettably are forced to introduce an ECS handling charge as follows:

Shipments by road
DKK   75.00 per MRN number
Seafreight worldwide DKK  125.00 per MRN number
Airfreight worldwide and seafreight North Atlantic DKK  45.00 per MRN number
Parcels DKK 25.00 per MRN number

Charges are introduced as from 6 November 2009.
