To mark the centennial anniversary of the association, on 22 January 2010 Danish Freight Forwarders held a conference in Borsen (the Danish Stock Exchange building). About 200 managers from the industry participated, and in the evening 375 people in festive attire were invited to a gala dinner at the National Gallery of Denmark.
Aside from presentations by Minister for Transport Lars Barfoed and Bjorn Lomborg, author of "The skeptical environmentalist", the highlight of the day was a verbal duel between Blue Water's Managing Director Kurt Skov and Kurt Larsen, Chairman of the Board of rivaling company DSV.
The friendly challenge of wits was supervised and ruled on by Danish TV presenter and talk show host Clement Kjersgaard. Following a short film presenting old giants from the industry, Danish freight forwarding companies Samson Transport and Paul Lehmann, the two gentlemen discussed cultural differences and customer strategies. Kurt Larsen had the most correct answers, but Kurt Skov won the match on points in a very entertaining and unorthodox stage show.

Blue Water was nominated for the Danish Freight Forwarder Association's newly introduced Effie award, which in future will be awarded a freight forwarding company which has conceived transport and logistics solutions based on EFFiciency, Innovation and Energy conservation.
We were nominated on our efforts in combined traffics via waterways and attempts to attract short sea shipping lines to Esbjerg, Denmark.
Unfortunately, this year, the price went to another freight forwarder.
All in all it was a successful day and festive evening in the company of colleagues from the freight forwarding industry in Denmark.
The Danish Freight Forwarders Association is a professional body whose main purpose is to promote its members' interests in relation to authorities, organisations and the press at both national and international level.
