RTG Cranes from Oman to Iran

In July 2011, Blue Water's projects department in Esbjerg, Denmark, was assigned the task of shipping two RTG cranes from Salalah in Oman to Bandar Abbas in Iran.

The Iranian company Mobasher Norr Darya Co. had procured the cranes in the spring of 2011 from Salalah Port which is partly owned by APM terminals. The RTG cranes will be used for the stacking of containers at a privately owned terminal, established by Mobasher Norr Darya Co. in the port of Bandar Abbas in 2001.

As the cranes are not constructed to be lifted, the only solution was to roll them onboard a RORO vessel.

For this purpose, Blue Water chartered the vessel Condock IV from Condock Freight company in Hamburg, Germany. The vessel is equipped with a loading platform at the back so that the cranes could roll onboard themselves.

Project freight forwarders from the projects department in Esbjerg travelled to Oman to ensure that the loading process in the port of Salalah went according to plan.

The transport was completed without incidents, and the Condock IV arrived at Bandar Abbas on 28 July for unloading at high tide.
