Every year on 28 and 29 July, the Faroe Islands celebrate its national festival in honor of Saint Olav in the country capital of Torshavn.
During the two days, around 30,000 of the 50,000 inhabitants are present in the city to celebrate the patron saint with a wide range of activities such as concerts, shows, singing and not least the regatta final, which takes place in old-fashioned, Faroese boats. Most of the participants are dressed in the national custome of the Faroe Islands during the festival days.
In connection with the regatta, Smyril Blue Water Torshavn traditionally has an open house for clients, staff and friends of the house, serving a selection of Faroese specialities such as pilot whale, dried fish, mutton and shellfish. Every year, around 250-300 guests attend the open house, which last a couple of hours, and this year again, Smyril Blue Water had many visitors.
