On 2 June in the morning, HRH the Prince Consort had arrived to
Esbjerg by ship onboard the Royal Danish Yacht "m/s Dannebrog"
together with her Majesty the Queen of Denmark - Margrethe
II.
In the course of a very tight programme for the day, 50 minutes
were allocated for the royal visit at Blue Water.
The red carpet had been rolled out, and, in a manner befitting his
rank, Prince Henrik was received on the stairs by Kurt Skov,
Gyrithe Skov and Jørn Jøllund.

From a clear, blue sky, the sun shone on the golden trim and
rows of medals on the Prince Consort's admiral's uniform.
Inside, in the Blue Water reception hall, the Prince and his 7
person entourage were received by Management under the flashing
lights from press photographers.
Following a short company introduction in Kurt Skov's office, a
tour among the company's 192 employees started.
Moods were high, and the Prince Consort was especially interested
when being introduced to the GPS system, as he could spot a Blue
Water trailer - purely coincidentally -at the exact moment when the
system zoomed to his French residence Chateau Caix. It was waiting
there in case the Prince decided to book a wine transport. The
surprise grew even further, when we mysteriously produced a photo
of the trailer parked between the vineyard and the Prince's
chateau. The Prince took the photograph with him.

The local press following us most of the way around the office,
and on occasion of the day, a young pianist from Vestjysk
Musikkonservatorium played the piano, permanently residing in the
entrance hall. The Prince had a short conversation with the
pianist, remarking on his repertoire.
Time was short - an actual 12 minutes were reduced from the
visiting time - but we still managed everything. Fortunately, we
also had time for a relaxed farewell with a cup of coffee, a glass
of French dessert wine and our own home baked nut and marzipan
cakes.
As a reminder of the day, Kurt Skov presented the Prince Consort
with a fresh from print coffee table book by local photographer
Bent Medvind - showing in pictures the sea and area around the port
entrance to Esbjerg.

It was a big day for the company and its employees. Gyrithe and
Kurt Skov were dinner guests with the royal couple on Monday
evening, and were some of the last to say goodnight onboard the
Royal Yacht, before Dannebrog sailed out to anker for the
night.
On Tuesday, the royal guests have another days programme, visiting
the island of Manø in the Waddensea - Denmark's newest national
park.
